Argyle Pink & Blue Diamonds

Argyle Pink & Blue Diamonds

pinksThe Argyle Diamond Mine is renowned for its production of white and fancy coloured diamonds. These include the ever popular champagne and cognac diamonds, as well as the most prized and rare pink, blue and violet diamonds - the most rare and valuable diamonds in the world.

The Argyle Diamond Mine is the world's virtual sole source of natural pink diamonds, which unlike white diamonds, are graded according according to their intensity of colour.

It is extremely rare to find a near flawless Argyle pink diamond, with unique inclusions thought to contribute to the colour of these rare stones. Although the exact cause of the colour in pink diamonds remains somewhat of a mystery, it is thought that changes in the crystal lattice structure of the diamond under pressure as it raises to the Earth's surface may be a factor, causing the stone to absorb light differently than other coloured or white diamonds.

Because of this relatively unexplained phenomena, it has been said that Argyle pink diamonds 'blush when you look at them'.

Argyle's blue and violet diamonds are rarities among the rare. They are seldom found, but highly coveted. It is said that for every 25 million carats of diamonds extracted from the Argyle Diamond mine, a single blue or violet diamond just may be found.

Like Argyle pink diamonds, Argyle's blue and violet diamonds are classed into colour grades that are unique to these rare gems that are only produced from the Argyle Diamond Mine.
