Diavik Diamonds With a Story

The Diavik diamond mine was formed billions of years ago under Lac de Gras in the Northwest Territories of Canada. An extreme mining feat by Rio Tinto saw innovative engineering allow the recovery of what are known as some of the world’s most beautiful diamonds.
A Mine of Origin programme has been created by Rio Tinto to guarantee that the origin of their diamonds and the quality of the mine that produced them.
The Mine of Origin programme assures their clients that:
* Each certified diamond is a natural gem sourced from Rio Tinto’s Diavik Diamond Mine in the Northwest Territories of Canada.
* Each Diavik diamond is tracked and segregated from other product streams from the mine to market.
* Each Diavik diamond is manufactured by a Select Diamantaire.
* Certified gems are laser-etched with a unique number, traceable to the Rio Tinto Diamonds’ lot number indicating size of original rough.
Rio Tinto mined Diavik diamonds are accompanied by international certification and a unique story booklet.
Each booklet contains a certificate stating the original rough size of the diamond and confirmation of its chain of custody.
Exclusive to Diavik Diamonds with a Story, this detailed booklet tells the intimate story of exploration through to recovery and explains the cutting and polishing process of each diamond.
Only one booklet is produced per diamond making it all the more special.
Most Diavik diamonds are extremely high colour and clarity grades, their crystal structure is so perfectly formed they are a pleasure to cut.
All of these characteristics lead to perfectly cut gems that sparkle brilliantly.
